Speaker Bio
John Rood is Chief Marketing Officer of Impact Theory. He develops engagement strategy, creative materials, and growth initiatives for this media studio & community dedicated to empowerment – video & audio content, online education, animated stories, NFTs and other Web 3 experiences, etc. Impact Theory is led by entrepreneurs Tom & Lisa Bilyeu, founders of Quest Nutrition.
From 2020-2022, John was a marketing consultant, with clients ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to agencies to start-ups to non-profits.
From 2015-2020, John was SVP, Marketing for Disney Channels at The Walt Disney Company.
From 2010-2014, John was the EVP of Sales, Marketing, and Business Development for DC Comics at Warner Bros.
From 2000-2010, John worked at the Disney/ABC Television Group, lastly as SVP, head of marketing for ABC Family / Freeform.
From 1993-2000, John worked at Warner Bros. Consumer Products.
From 1989-1993, John worked in advertising for Leo Burnett Chicago on the McDonald’s and Miller Brewing accounts.
He received his MBA from The University of Texas – Austin, and his BA from The University of Nebraska. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife Cindee and two sons (Trent is a Husker sophomore and Duke is a Husker incoming freshman). They are proud supporters of Cindee’s charity Formidable Joy, which drills water wells in Malawi.
