For the 2023-24 AMA Lincoln board year, Mandy Peterson takes the president’s chair to lead AMA Lincoln through it’s 40th year in the Lincoln community. In this role, she supports and oversees all board members, providing a vision for the chapter alongside other leaders. In previous years, she’s been critical to the success of events like the Prism Awards and Cropped (whew —that’s a lot of work!). Want to get to know this marketing leader? Tell us a little about your full-time job. What do you do? What kinds of people do you work with? What do you enjoy about it?
I’m the founder, designer, and head storyteller of SevnSpero Creations, a freelance graphic design company.
I work with all types of individuals and businesses. Primarily small businesses in and around Lincoln and entrepreneurs just getting started, but I have clients from coast to coast.
What do you do in your free time? Any hobbies you enjoy? Things you do to decompress?
Camping, hiking, kayaking, painting…how can I choose?! There are so many awesome things to do in the world, especially when you’re doing them with family and friends. I’ve also recently gotten into podcasts (I know, a little late to the game).
How does your perfect morning start?
My perfect morning starts with some coffee, breakfast, and a little news, plus a little reading or Sudoku. I like a slow start to the morning before I completely dive into things…as a business owner, these “perfect mornings” don’t turn out the way they should very often.
What professional achievement are you most proud of?
Starting my own business at 25 years old. Then making the decision to leave what I thought I was passionate about to pursue that business full time.
What personal achievement are you most proud of?
Figuring out my ‘Why’ early in life and not letting things take me off course. There were personal sacrifices I had to make to lead me to this but it makes me all the more proud of myself to see who I’ve become.
What advice do you have for young professionals in the area?
Don’t let your education or others opinions get in the way of making big moves. Say “Yes!” and do the things that put you on the edge of your seat. You’ll be so happy with the self-growth and the outcome will outweigh the fear.
What’s your favorite part about Lincoln and why?
It’s a small big city. The people you run into and the connections you make are so great!
