Volunteer with AMA Lincoln
It takes a village to make AMA Lincoln possible. On top of their AMA responsibilities, our board members and other volunteers have jobs, families, and TV shows to catch up on! As an AMA Lincoln volunteer, you’re free to offer up as much or as little of your time and talents as you’re able. Our board members will work closely to make sure you’re not burned out or asked to do something they wouldn’t do themselves.
Check out volunteer opportunities for each of our chapter committees and reach out to us if anything catches your eye. You only have to pick one bullet point, unless you’re really hungry to make an impact.
Programming
These are the folks in charge of handling our busy event calendar. Being a Programming Volunteer is a great, low-level commitment if you just want to dip your toes into the AMA world. Common volunteer opportunities in this committee include:
- Event setup and/or teardown
- Greeting guests at events and helping them sign in
- Assistance with audio/visual tech (we’ll train you on this!)
- Event scheduling and logistics
Communications
This committee helps get the word out about our organization and produces content relevant to Lincoln marketers. Being a Communications Volunteer is great if you want tangible things you can add to your portfolio and resume. Common volunteer opportunities in this committee include:
- Social media management
- Website management (coding skills not required)
- Graphic design
- Copywriting
- Digital strategy and advertising
- Photography
- Videography
Membership
This committee includes our resident “people persons”—they’re responsible for drawing in new members and keeping existing members engaged. Being a Membership Volunteer is a great way to flex your recruiting muscles, get out of your shell, and make a ton of new connections in the Lincoln marketing community. Common volunteer opportunities in this committee include:
- Interacting with members and attendees at events
- Following up with guests after events
- Helping us recruit new members
- Helping us maintain relationships with existing members
- Working with new members to make sure they’re getting as much value as possible
Partnership
Our awesome partners make up a huge part of that village we mentioned earlier. Being a Partnership Volunteer is another way to make new connections, hone your sales skills, and make sure our partners are getting full recognition. Common volunteer opportunities in this committee include:
- Reaching out to potential and former partners (alongside our board members)
- Working with the board and partners to make sure we’re delivering on promised recognition
- Picking up and/or storing in-kind gifts as needed
- Helping with administrative tasks like invoice management
Special Events
These stellar folks are responsible for larger events like CROPPED and the Prism Awards. Similar to Programming, Special Events volunteers are great for volunteers who want a chance to help out and make connections but aren’t sure if a longer-term role is in the cards. Common volunteer opportunities in this committee include:
- Audio/visual assistance (we’ll train you on this!)
- Photography
- Videography
- Coordinating with board members, judges, and other vendors
- Event setup and/or teardown
- General event coordination and support
